Richard Procee is an enthusiastic advocate for our youth, which is why he was so excited to run for Trustee of the Chilliwack School Board.
His own education and work experience in construction, contracting and management all combine to give him a unique awareness for, and appreciation of, the importance of the early development of employable skills and mindsets in our youth.
Along with a solid foundation in educational basics – reading, writing and mathematics – and essential skills development, Richard is also passionate about encouraging an entrepreneurial spirit in our youth.
Richard and his wife Tera Hofstede operate their family market, Hofstede’s Country Barn, which, over the past 25 years, has employed scores of students and local residents.
Richard’s commitment to serving the community is amply demonstrated by his current and past positions on the boards of a multitude of community-focused organizations, alongside his financial support for them.
These include the Chilliwack Minor Hockey Association, Chilliwack Community Services, Kiwanis Club, Rotary School Scholarships, Lions Club, Bowls of Hope, Ruth and Naomi’s Mission, the Salvation Army and Ann Davis House.
His strength is bringing balance and boldness to organizations, and he wants to help SD33 become unified in purpose so it can best serve the mandate of public education.
Parents must feel confident their children are pushed to fully explore their potential, and teachers need the resources to help students develop critical thinking skills along with the core skills essential to success in life, reading, writing and mathematics, so they are fully prepared for their future.
