Chris Fieber

Kelowna SD23 School Trustee Candidate

I am excited to be running for School Trustee for the Central Okanagan. I am recently retired from Interior Health where I was a Long-Term Care Aide. Being retired frees up more time for me to listen to the concerns of the parents and the community and allows me to be a fresh voice to represent their concerns.

I was born and raised in Saskatchewan where I graduated from High School. I later moved to Abbotsford to attend Bible College where I received my Bachelor of Religious Education degree.

Through out all my adult life I have been involved in various areas of community service, whether it be with youth and children services, or as a Teacher on Call for the Kettle Valley School district. While my children were in elementary school I was involved with our local PAC, where we fought successfully to keep the small Upper Fraser school open instead of bussing the children an hour away to attend school.

It is exciting to work with children and youth, to be able to see their potential and to be able to encourage and inspire them to pursue their passion and their dream.

Our children and grandchildren, nieces, nephews that are in the school system today will be our teachers, nurses, doctors, scientists and leaders for our world tomorrow. My desire is to serve these future leaders to see that they become the best that they can possibly be. They need a strong solid foundation when they graduate, being able to read, write and strong all around math skills. They need to be taught life skills and in doing so they will learn their rights, and responsibilities as well as respect for one another and other people’s property. School settings should be safe and inspiring for all students, where they are challenged to excel to their fullest potential.
